Even if you do not want a divorce, you need to first acknowledge and listen to the reasons why your spouse is not happy. Don’t get defensive. Suggest some solutions, whether it is marital therapy or even individual counseling. After listening to his or her concerns, be honest with YOURSELF concerning whether the marriage can or should be saved. However, even as you attempt to work out with your spouse whether or not to divorce, and perhaps even address the terms of your divorce, you should seek counsel as soon as possible to obtain valuable advice on how best to protect yourself.
